Ben & Jerry's Co-Founder Ben Cohen Arrested During RFK Jr. Senate Hearing Protest

Hold onto your spoons! Ben Cohen—the “Ben” in Ben & Jerry’s—is no stranger to stirring the pot, and this time he whipped up a whole new kind of meltdown. During a Senate hearing featuring Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cohen got kicked out for shouting protest chants that had cops hauling him out faster than you can say “Chunky Monkey.”

The drama went down May 14, when Cohen and a handful of activists shouted, “RFK kills people with hate!” right as Kennedy was getting started. According to Fox News, Cohen didn’t stop there. He stood up and dropped a bombshell of his own, yelling, “Congress pays for bombs that kill kids in Gaza!” That’s when Capitol Police showed him the exit.

The man behind the iconic ice cream brand took to social media afterward, saying, “I told Congress they’re killing poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs, and they’re paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US.” Heavy stuff for a guy usually associated with waffle cones and cherry chunks.

Ben & Jerry’s is no stranger to controversy—they stirred up plenty back in 2021 by pulling their ice cream from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, while still selling inside Israel’s pre-1967 borders. Cohen’s latest stunt? Just another scoop in their ongoing social justice sundae.

For those wondering if Ben’s getting into politics or just making a big scene—well, he’s doing a bit of both. One thing’s for sure: when Ben Cohen protests, it’s never boring.
