Xi Jinping to Attend Moscow Victory Day Parade and Meet Putin

China's Xi Jinping is heading to Moscow for Victory Day events and a high-profile meeting with Putin amid ongoing tensions with Ukraine.

Talk about timing! Chinese President Xi Jinping is strutting into Moscow May 7, just two days before Russia’s massive Victory Day parade — and yep, he’s on the VIP list.

According to the Kremlin (via Reuters), Xi’s hanging out in Russia until May 10 and will be front and center for the Red Square spectacle on May 9. Think tanks, tanks, and more tanks — plus an entire country flexing hard for the cameras. Yes, this is Russia’s equivalent of the Super Bowl halftime show… but with nukes.

And of course, Xi’s not just there to wave at the missiles.

He’s expected to cozy up to Putin for some serious face time. Word is, they’ll be tightening their already extra-close bromance and probably signing off on a few backroom deals while they’re at it (hello, strategic partnership!).

This is Xi’s third visit to Russia since Putin went full-in on Ukraine in 2022. Let that sink in.

And no, China isn’t officially backing the war — but they’re definitely not not helping either. AP News says China’s been a key supplier of tech parts that keep Russia’s military gears grinding. Neutral? Kinda. Friendly? Definitely.

Other big-name guests are rolling through too — leaders from Brazil, Serbia, and Slovakia are all RSVPing to the Kremlin party. But not everyone’s thrilled.

Over in Ukraine, Zelensky suggested a 30-day ceasefire. Putin swerved that with a hard “nah” and offered a 3-day truce instead (May 8–10). Just enough for fireworks and photos, apparently.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s favorite doomsday mouthpiece, issued a creepy warning — basically saying that if Ukraine hits Moscow during Victory Day, all bets are off. No pressure, right?

Still, Moscow’s going full-throttle with the parade, showcasing jets, cadets, and a truckload of patriotic vibes. Xi’s presence? A huge power play — and another sign that China and Russia are locking arms tighter than ever.
