Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par To Release In June, Filming Wrapped
MUMBAI — Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par will hit cinemas on June 20, following the completion of filming and entry into post-production, according to the production team.
The film, directed by RS Prasanna, features Khan alongside Genelia D’Souza and Darsheel Safary. A source close to the production said the shoot wrapped in December, with final edits underway.
“Shooting the climax in Vadodara was challenging but worth it,” said a crew member familiar with the Gujarat schedule.
Originally slated for a December release, the date was pushed due to extended post-production and cost concerns in Delhi. Scenes planned for the capital were instead recreated in Lucknow and Madhya Pradesh.
A special song sequence featuring Khan and D’Souza was recently filmed in Mumbai. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly led the shoot. “It’s a celebratory track — high energy, full of heart,” he said.
The story draws inspiration from the Spanish film Champions and revolves around a coach working with a team of players with Down Syndrome. The film is not a sequel but shares thematic links with Khan’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par.
The official trailer is expected to release in May, attached to the film Raid 2, producers confirmed.
