Royal Challengers Bangalore ended a 17-year drought by thrashing CSK at their home ground. In the match played at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, RCB delivered a splendid performance by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs, marking their second consecutive win in IPL 2025.

After this memorable victory, Rajat Patidar’s team has reached the top of the points table.In the 8th match of IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings faced Royal Challengers Bangalore. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first.

RCB’s aggressive opener Philip Salt once again provided a strong start for his team with explosive batting during the powerplay, scoring 32 runs off 16 balls. On the other end, Virat Kohli struggled to score runs quickly, but captain Rajat Patidar made his intentions clear as soon as he arrived and played a brilliant half-century, making a significant contribution to take RCB to a strong total.

RCB breached CSK’s fortress after 17 years

RCB defeated CSK at their home for the first time since 2008. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, RCB’s team looks completely different. All the batsmen are playing in aggressive mode. In the match against Chennai Super Kings, RCB posted a score of 196 runs on the scoreboard. In response, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team could only manage 146 runs, losing 8 wickets in 20 overs, and thus lost the match by 50 runs.

Although all the bowlers impressed on behalf of RCB, Australia’s star pacer Josh Hazlewood put CSK on the back foot right from the start by taking 2 wickets. Hazlewood took 3 wickets for just 21 runs in his 4-over spell. In addition, Yash Dayal and English all-rounder Liam Livingstone also took 2 wickets each.
