These days, the problem of fatty liver is rapidly increasing due to poor diet and bad lifestyle. This disease occurs when excess fat starts accumulating in the liver.

Initially, it does not show many symptoms, but if it is not controlled in time, it can lead to heart disease. Doctors say that fatty liver affects blood circulation, which increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Fatty Liver and Heart Disease

When excess fat accumulates in the liver, it causes inflammation, leading to an increase in bad cholesterol (LDL) and a decrease in good cholesterol (HDL) in the body.

This increases the risk of blockage in the heart’s arteries. Problems with blood pressure and diabetes can also arise due to fatty liver, which can weaken the heart over time. Fatty liver can trigger heart-related diseases.

Who is at greater risk?

Some people are at a higher risk of fatty liver, especially those who are overweight, diabetic, who drink a lot of alcohol, have an unhealthy diet, and do not exercise at all. In such cases, you need to make immediate changes to your lifestyle.

Which symptoms should make you careful?

The symptoms of fatty liver appear very gradually, but if you notice these signs, be alert. A slight pain or heaviness felt on the right side of the abdomen, constant lethargy and weakness, reduced appetite or difficulty in digesting food, and rapid weight gain or loss could indicate a fatty liver issue. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, do not take them lightly and consult a doctor for diagnosis.

How to keep the liver and heart healthy?

If you want both your liver and heart to remain healthy, you need to make some changes in your daily routine.

Change your diet – Avoid junk food, fried foods, and too many sweets. Eat green vegetables, fruits, and protein-rich foods.

Exercise regularly – Walk, do yoga, or light workouts for at least 30 minutes daily.

Avoid alcohol and cigarettes – Alcohol and smoking harm the liver, so quit them completely.

Keep your weight in control – Obesity is dangerous not only for the liver but also for the heart, so maintain a healthy weight.
