
Texas Senate officially recognizes Holi as a cultural celebration(taazatv.com)
The Texas Senate has officially passed its first resolution as an important cultural festival Holi, The Festival of Colors. With this, Texas has become the third American state to formally recognize Holi after Georgia and New York. This resolution is an important milestone in accepting the growing cultural contribution of the Indian-American community in Texas.
The proposal was introduced by Senator Sarah Eckhardt and passed on 14 March just before Holi. It throws light on the cultural and spiritual significance of the festival. The resolution states that this joyous festival was born thousands of years ago and is recognized by people of all backgrounds worldwide. The Senate emphasized the role of Holi in strengthening community bonds and enriching Texas’s cultural diversity.
Houston, D.C. In India’s Consul General Manjunath recognized recognition as a pride and historical moment for Texas. He said, “The recognition of the Senate of Holi confirms our commitment to diversity, unity, friendship and cultural heritage.”
