The couple hinted that personal struggles played a role, especially when it came to “some challenging health situations in our families.” They didn’t go into detail, but the message was clear: life got real.

Feimster, known for her roles in The Mindy Project and Netflix’s Sweet & Salty, has always been open about her relationship. She and Smith met at Chicago Pride in 2015 — literally the day after the U.S. legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. Timing? Nailed it.

Fast-forward to 2018: the couple got engaged during a dreamy trip to Big Sur, California. And when the pandemic hit, they didn’t let it stop them.
