Ten Inmates Break Out of New Orleans Jail Using Toilet Wall and Blankets

Ten inmates escaped a New Orleans jail after breaking through a toilet wall and scaling a fence with blankets. One has been caught, nine are still loose.

New Orleans just had its own Shawshank Redemption moment — minus Morgan Freeman and with a lot more barbed wire.

Ten inmates pulled off a real-life jailbreak from the Orleans Justice Center, and honestly, it’s so wild you’d think it was ripped from a Netflix script.

How’d they do it? Brace yourself.

According to the AP, these guys dismantled the toilet-sink unit in their cell, squeezed through a hole in the wall, and somehow made it past a loading dock and a perimeter fence — using blankets to shimmy over the barbed wire.

They even popped up on surveillance cameras casually crossing Interstate 10, like they were heading out for coffee.

The wildest part? Jail staff didn’t even notice until the 8:30 a.m. headcount — seven hours later. That’s not just a slip-up; that’s a facepalm moment for the books.

One of the escapees, Kendell Myles, was snagged later in the French Quarter thanks to facial recognition tech. But the other nine? Still out there. And according to ABC News, some of these guys are facing charges for serious stuff — murder, attempted murder, armed robbery. Not exactly a chill crowd.

Sheriff Susan Hutson isn’t sugarcoating it. She told AP News that the escape “would have been impossible without help.” Translation? This may have been an inside job.

Three staffers have already been suspended while the whole thing’s under the microscope. And yes, the feds are all over it — U.S. Marshals, FBI, the works.

The jail, by the way, is only 60% staffed. And it’s already under federal oversight for being… well, a mess.

So now the city’s in full manhunt mode. Police are asking the public to be on high alert and report anything sketchy. They’re also warning that anyone helping these guys will be treated as an accomplice.
