Michelle Beadle Roasts Stephen A. Smith As Siriusxm Shake Up Sparks Feud Flashback
Michelle Beadle just grabbed the mic—and she’s not letting go without saying what’s on her mind.
The former ESPN star is doubling down on her years-long feud with Stephen A. Smith, and she’s doing it in classic Beadle fashion: bold, unfiltered, and on-air.
On Wednesday’s episode of Beadle & Decker on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, Beadle fired back after hearing Stephen A. Smith is replacing her time slot. That’s right—Smith is sliding into the space currently held by Beadle’s show, and let’s just say she didn’t find out the classy way.
“They told us the day before the announcement,” Beadle said on air, calling the timing “a little embarrassing.” She said she and co-host Cody Decker already expected to leave the station before their contract ends in August—but getting blindsided by a press release? That still stings.
The twist? The incoming host is Stephen A. Smith—aka Beadle’s long-time nemesis from the ESPN days. Beadle didn’t hold back about how awkward that timing felt, especially with their history. “We all know what happened between Stephen A. and I,” she said, adding, “we’re not going to relive it, but if you want to go find it, it’s on the internet.”
If you don’t remember the beef: it kicked off back in 2014 when Beadle publicly slammed Smith over his comments on domestic violence during the Ray Rice scandal. It got heated. Smith was suspended. And their relationship never really bounced back.
Now? She’s not thrilled about sharing headlines with him again.
Smith, for his part, claims he didn’t know Beadle and Decker weren’t informed ahead of the announcement. He told the New York Post that if he had known, “he would’ve handled it differently.” Classic PR move.
Still, Beadle isn’t exactly going scorched earth—just a controlled burn. She said she wouldn’t spend her remaining shows going off on Smith, but warned listeners: “I imagine the calls will come in.”
She also joked that the “karma train is never late,” hinting at the full-circle weirdness of her exit lining up with Smith’s entrance. “Of all the people to take over our time slot, it’s the guy,” she laughed. “It’s just too poetic.”
Stephen A.’s new show kicks off September 2 and will reportedly blend sports with pop culture and current events. Meanwhile, Beadle and Decker will wrap their run sometime before that.
The mic drop? Still pending.
