You hear that sound? It’s the collective scream of RPG fans who’ve waited over two decades for this exact moment. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is real. It’s remastered. And it’s landing on your favorite screen on September 30, 2025.
Square Enix finally pulled the trigger during Sony’s State of Play livestream on Tuesday, and let’s just say — they didn’t hold back. This isn’t just a coat of paint. It’s a full-blown resurrection.
According to Game Informer, the game is coming in two flavors: Enhanced Edition and Classic Mode.
The Enhanced version? Fully voiced dialogue. Crisp, updated visuals. A streamlined UI. Oh, and quality-of-life tweaks that make those 100+ hours of gameplay feel smoother than ever.
Prefer the old-school vibes? Classic Mode has you covered with original 1997 graphics, the War of the Lions script, and new conveniences like auto-save.
Square Enix is calling it “the definitive experience of the Ivalice saga,” per its official press release.
And yes — Ramza Beoulve is back. So are the Zodiac Brave Story, those deliciously messy political plots, and the job system that made you weep with joy (or frustration) depending on how your Arithmetician performed that day.
Platforms? Pretty much all of them. The game will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC (including Steam Deck). This isn’t a remaster for the chosen few — it’s a full-on reunion tour.
The trailer showed off remastered battle animations, upgraded spell effects, and what appeared to be a new narrator voice. Subtle changes, but they land hard.
No word yet on multiplayer or added story content — and that’s fine. Fans came for the tactics, the betrayal, and the beautifully overcomplicated war stories. Everything else is bonus.
Preorders are live now. Nostalgia is good. Tactical nostalgia with modern polish? That’s just dangerous.
