DDG is drawing a legal line in the sand—and it’s about more than just a passport. The rapper and YouTuber (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) filed an emergency motion in Los Angeles County court to stop ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey from traveling internationally with their 17-month-old son, Halo. The destination? Italy.
According to court documents obtained by People, DDG isn’t just trying to ground the trip—he’s also asking the court for a domestic violence restraining order against Bailey. The filing claims Bailey is a “risk” to both him and their son.
DDG alleges that Bailey has made threats of self-harm and once took his firearm during a domestic altercation. In his motion, he says this kind of behavior makes her mentally unfit to travel alone with Halo—especially outside the country, where U.S. court protections wouldn’t apply.
This legal move comes less than a month after Bailey was granted temporary sole custody of Halo—and a restraining order against DDG—after she accused him of abuse. In her earlier court filings, she claimed he physically assaulted her, slammed her into a steering wheel, and chipped her tooth. That story, first reported by Page Six, included photos of bruises and other injuries.
Now, DDG is flipping the narrative. In the June 4 motion, he argues that Bailey’s “erratic and violent” behavior should disqualify her from having unsupervised custody. He wants either full custody himself or, at the very least, that all exchanges of Halo be supervised by a third party.
A full court hearing is set for June 24, and that’s when the judge will dig into both sides’ claims. So, for now, Halo’s European summer might be on hold—depending on what happens in court later this month.
