
Paul Doyle Charged After Liverpool Parade Crash Injures Dozens
A man has been charged after a serious crash during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade injured nearly 80 people, including a child.
Paul Doyle, 53, from West Derby, Liverpool, is facing multiple charges following the incident on Water Street on Sunday evening. Police confirmed that Doyle drove a grey Ford Galaxy into a crowd of fans who had gathered to celebrate the football club’s title win.
According to BBC News, the crash happened around 6pm, causing panic and injuries among supporters. A total of 79 people were hurt, with some still recovering in hospital. One of the victims is a nine-year-old child.
Doyle has been charged with seven offences, including two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent. He also faces one count of dangerous driving.
Police said the crash is not being treated as terrorism. The investigation is ongoing, and officers are reviewing CCTV footage and talking to witnesses who were at the scene.
Doyle is expected to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 30 May.
