Trump Pushes Baseless White Genocide Claim In Meeting With South Africa’s President (IMG SOURCE: bbc.com)
Buckle up — this one’s a doozy.
In a meeting meant to smooth out diplomacy, Donald Trump took a hard left and accused South African President Cyril Ramaphosa of overseeing a “white genocide.”
Yep. That happened.
According to The Guardian, Trump walked into the Oval Office on Tuesday armed with videos, blog posts, and unverified clips — all aimed at supporting his baseless claim that white South Africans are being systematically targeted and killed.
Ramaphosa? Totally unfazed.
The South African leader calmly pushed back, reminding Trump that crime affects all racial groups — with Black South Africans making up the vast majority of victims.
The “white genocide” myth has long been a talking point in far-right circles. But as The Guardian notes, there is no evidence behind it. That didn’t stop Trump from offering Afrikaners asylum and pressing Ramaphosa over South Africa’s land reform laws.
At one point, Trump reportedly showed controversial footage of South African politicians chanting “Kill the Boer” — content that has been widely discredited or taken out of context.
Ramaphosa shut it down fast. He explained the Expropriation Act is both legal and tightly regulated. “No random land grabs,” he clarified. Just measured, constitutional reform.
Still, Trump wasn’t hearing it.
He doubled down on the conspiracy, turning what should have been a policy chat into something closer to a conspiracy-laced YouTube rant.
The meeting ended awkwardly, but Ramaphosa, ever diplomatic, said he’s still open to talks — and confirmed plans to meet Trump again at the upcoming G20 summit.
Here’s hoping next time, Trump fact-checks before flipping open his phone.
