Angel Reese Targeted With Racist Remarks During WNBA Game vs. Fever

Angel Reese faced racist heckling during the Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever game, sparking league and player union backlash and an ongoing investigation.

Angel Reese walked into Gainbridge Fieldhouse like a boss. But what she walked into wasn’t just a battle on the court — it was an ugly reality off it.

Friday night’s Chicago Sky–Indiana Fever clash lit up the WNBA spotlight — and not in the way anyone wanted.

Reese, already used to playing the villain in some fans’ minds, was booed loudly throughout the game. After a hard foul by Caitlin Clark that led to a flagrant call, things got real heated. Reese and Aliyah Boston both picked up techs after a post-foul dust-up.

Then came the disgusting part.

According to The Associated Press, fans hurled racist and hateful remarks at Reese during the game. People reported similar details, noting that it happened after the third-quarter flagrant on Clark.

Reese didn’t speak out publicly right after the game, but she’s been clear before: she’s faced racism, death threats, and harassment ever since the NCAA days.

And now, it’s followed her into the pros.

The WNBA isn’t standing for it. League officials, the WNBA Players Association, and Pacers Sports & Entertainment all condemned the abuse and are investigating.

Pacers Sports called the behavior “unacceptable” and said they’re working to identify the culprits. The WNBPA added: “There is zero tolerance for racism, hate, or bigotry of any kind.”

Caitlin Clark — who’s had her own spotlight whirlwind lately — backed Reese, telling The Washington Post, “There’s no place for that. Not in our sport, not in society.”

The WNBA recently launched a “No Space for Hate” campaign. Now that slogan’s being put to the test — hard.

This isn’t just about basketball beef. It’s about who gets protected and who gets vilified when the cameras are rolling.

And Angel Reese? She’s still showing up. Still competing. Still unapologetically her.

Because hate’s loud — but she’s louder.
