Snl Cold Open: Trump Interrupts Mother’s Day Tribute With Jeanine Pirro Return
Just when you thought SNL was getting all soft and sentimental, BOOM—Donald Trump (yep, James Austin Johnson’s dead-on impression) stormed the stage like a MAGA hurricane in this weekend’s cold open.
It all started sweet. Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, and Marcello Hernández hit the SNL stage to shower their real-life moms with love for Mother’s Day. Aw, right?
Then came the Trump takeover.
In barges JAJ’s Trump, hijacking the Hallmark moment with a chaotic campaign-style rant—only to introduce his “dream team” of Fox News faves.
Enter: Jeanine Pirro. Yep, Cecily Strong is BACK, baby. And she’s boozier than ever.
Strong reprised her fan-fave role, swirling red wine and slurring sweet nothings into the camera. At one point? She spit wine directly into Colin Jost’s mouth, who played Pete Hegseth. Real gross. Real funny. Classic SNL.
Even Jost couldn’t hold it together. The usually-stoic “Weekend Update” anchor was cracking up mid-sketch, giving total Jimmy Fallon energy.
The sketch wrapped with Trump declaring his crew “The AA Team” — a wink to the wine-fueled madness onstage.
ICYMI, the episode was hosted by Walton Goggins (yup, Boyd Crowder from Justified) with music by Arcade Fire.
The best part? The sketch managed to blend real heart with total chaos—a true SNL special.
Thank you, Walton Goggins, Arcade Fire, Cecily Strong, and Walton’s mama! Goodnight! pic.twitter.com/e4T974Ty6n
