Say it ain’t so, Clint Barton! Jeremy Renner has reportedly turned down an offer to return for a second season of Hawkeye—and it’s all about the money. Yep, you read that right.

Despite being ready and willing to reprise his role as the bow-and-arrow-wielding hero, Renner says Disney’s lowball offer wasn’t even close to what he made for the first season.

In a candid chat with High Performance, Renner spilled the tea: Disney offered him half of his original salary for the second season, all while expecting the same grueling schedule. Can you imagine being offered less for doing the same, if not more?

But wait, it gets juicier. Renner didn’t even ask for a raise. Nope, all he wanted was the same compensation he got for the first season. And yet, Disney—according to him—had a “penny-pinching” mentality when it came to his pay. But here’s the kicker: this wasn’t even a decision from Marvel Studios, it was the Disney accountants doing the dirty work. Ouch.

For the record, Renner doesn’t have bad blood with the Hawkeye character—he still loves the role and would totally come back if the terms are right. So, Disney, if you’re listening, make it worth his time.

Renner’s frustration is understandable, especially after his snowplow accident in early 2023 that left him with over 30 broken bones. He deserves fair pay.

Now, don’t get too excited yet—there’s still no word on a confirmed Hawkeye Season 2. But executive Brad Winderbaum has said the show has potential, thanks to its fun characters and festive vibe. So, who knows?

In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see if Clint Barton ever gets his bow and arrows back in action. But this time? It better come with a hefty paycheck.
