Cbs Scores Emmy Nomination For Kamala Harris Interview Amid Trump Lawsuit
CBS just snagged an Emmy nom for an interview that’s got Donald Trump hotter than a summer rally in Florida. Yep — that very same “60 Minutes” sit-down with Kamala Harris that’s front and center in Trump’s monster $20 billion lawsuit against the network.
Talk about awkward timing.
According to The New York Post, the October 2024 interview, which featured Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is up for Outstanding Edited Interview. But while CBS is out here polishing trophies, Trump’s legal team is sharpening pitchforks.
The former president is accusing CBS and parent company Paramount Global of editing Harris’s responses to make her look, let’s say, way more coherent than she actually sounded in real time. Trump’s legal crew claims it was all part of a sneaky “election interference” plot.
Yikes.
CBS dropped a preview on Face the Nation with Harris seemingly fumbling her response about Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu. But then — surprise! — the full version on “60 Minutes” aired with a much cleaner soundbite.
Fishy? Trump thinks so.
Per Fox News, he claims the editing was done to give Harris a “Hollywood facelift” on national policy — and he’s not having it. Now the FCC is in the mix too, launching a probe into “potential news distortion,” according to AP News. They’ve even pushed CBS to cough up the raw footage.
As if things weren’t spicy enough, longtime “60 Minutes” boss Bill Owens suddenly resigned. He was fed up with alleged meddling from Paramount boss Shari Redstone — who reportedly wanted Trump-related stories delayed to protect a Skydance Media merger.
That’s some classic boardroom drama, Succession-style.
Still, even with legal heat, a federal investigation, and a behind-the-scenes power shuffle, CBS is out here flexing with an Emmy nod — up against interviews with Celine Dion, Pope Francis, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Popcorn, anyone?
