Xbox Just Got Pricier — Everywhere
Gamers, brace yourselves — Microsoft just cranked up the price tag on every Xbox Series console. Yep, the Xbox Series X and Series S are now officially more expensive worldwide. No cheat codes or secret discounts can save you this time.
According to The Verge, the standard Xbox Series X is jumping to $599.99 in the U.S. (that’s a full hundred bucks up), and the Xbox Series S is now $379.99. Even the 1TB Series S isn’t safe — it’s now $429.99. Oh, and surprise: there’s also a brand-new 2TB “Galaxy Black” Series X for a jaw-dropping $729.99.
In India? It’s not looking better. The Times of India report that prices had already been creeping up over the past year, and now gamers are just waiting for the hammer to drop again.
Accessories didn’t dodge the bullet either. That wireless controller you were eyeing? It’s now $64.99. The headset? $119.99. As for first-party Xbox games — some will hit $79.99, according to Polygon. Ouch.
Microsoft says rising development costs, global market shifts, and ongoing supply chain issues are to blame. Basically, it’s the economy, noobs. According to Windows Central, new U.S. tariffs on China haven’t helped either.
But despite the price hike, Xbox’s gaming division is still slaying. The Verge says Game Pass revenue is up 45% year-over-year. People are still buying — and preordering — like crazy.
So if you’ve been holding out for a console deal, this might be the last call before prices shoot up in your region too. Or hey, maybe it’s time to dust off that old Xbox 360 and call it vintage gaming.
