3.9 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Utah, No Major Damage Reported

BAM! Utah got hit by a 3.9 earthquake early this morning at 12:11 a.m., leaving Salt Lake City and nearby areas with a serious shake! The epicenter? Just outside Independence, Utah. That’s about 44 miles southeast of the city, and we felt it all the way from Park City to Provo!

But before you start worrying about skyscrapers tumbling or Hollywood-style disaster scenes — chill. No injuries, no major damage, just a little trembling of the ground beneath our feet. The quake was strong enough to wake you up, but not enough to wreck your house.

The tremor comes as part of an ongoing series of minor quakes in the area. In the last month alone, Utah’s had 34 tremors over 1.5 in magnitude — so, yeah, get used to the rumbles!

Stay alert and keep your emergency kit ready — earthquakes are no joke. For now, Utah’s been lucky, but you never know when the next shake could come.
