Hold onto your sailor hats because America’s favorite captain is reporting for duty once again. That’s right—Tom freaking Hanks is slipping back into his Navy blues for the long-awaited Greyhound sequel, and it’s about to go full throttle.

Deadline just dropped the anchor on the news: Hanks is set to reprise his role as Commander Ernest Krause in the Apple Original Films follow-up to 2020’s wartime thriller. And guess what? Cameras are officially set to roll early 2026—and not in Hollywood, but all the way in Australia. Yep, the land of kangaroos, Hemsworths, and now Tom Hanks-led naval epics.

The original Greyhound, if you forgot (how dare you), was all about Hanks commanding the high seas and taking on Nazi U-boats with nothing but grit, guts, and a steely stare that could sink a sub. It dropped on Apple TV+ during peak lockdown and became a surprise streaming smash—because let’s be honest, Tom Hanks + WWII = gold.

This time around, Hanks is co-writing the script again (because he’s a legend like that), and while plot details are tighter than a Navy drum, Deadline teases that it’ll pick up right where the last one left off. Expect more tension, more torpedoes, and more Hanks commanding like a total boss.

Also—this isn’t some “maybe” project floating in development waters. Apple is all in, teaming up with Playtone (Hanks’ and Gary Goetzman’s company) and FilmNation for production. So yeah, this ship is sailing, and it’s packing heat.

Fun fact: Hanks is basically the MCU of WWII dramas. Between Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and Masters of the Air, the man’s got more war hits than a Call of Duty playlist.

Bottom line: the captain is back, and 2026 can’t come fast enough. Someone cue the sonar—we’re ready for Greyhound 2.
