Well, well, well, looks like someone had a very bad day at Capital Burger in Washington, D.C. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was living the high life, enjoying a casual meal, when disaster struck. Her purse – yes, her purse – was snatched right out from under her nose. And not just any purse. This thing was loaded. We’re talking $3,000 in cash, a Homeland Security badge (yikes!), checks, makeup, meds, and even her passport. Talk about an expensive snack run!
The scene went down Sunday night, April 20th. The thief, wearing a mask (because of course), made his move. One second, Noem’s purse was chilling at her feet, the next – poof – gone, like a magic trick. The Department of Homeland Security didn’t spill all the tea, but they did confirm CNN’s scoop about what was inside. Surveillance footage shows the guy slipping in and out of the scene faster than an Instagram influencer at a freebie event.
Now, we know Noem’s got Secret Service protection, but even the best security can’t stop a thief with a bad day and a good pair of sneakers. No word yet on arrests, but the Secret Service is doing their thing, combing through video and hoping for a lead. Meanwhile, Noem’s out $3,000 and a whole lot more. What a way to ruin a dinner, right?
