
PM Modi visit Russia? Putin sent an Invitation for this Special Ceremony
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Russia soon. In fact, Russia has sent an invitation to PM Modi to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory over Germany in World War II. The event is called the ‘Victory Day Parade’ in which Russia showcases its military might. The eyes of the whole world are on this event.
When is the Victory Day Parade?
The Victory Day Parade in Russia is held annually on May 9 on the historic Red Square in Moscow. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko has informed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the ceremony this year. An invitation from Russia has already been sent to PM Modi and his visit is being planned. Russia has sent invitations to leaders of many more friendly countries to join the Victory Day celebrations.
What is the history of the Victory Day celebration?
In fact, in the Second World War, the Nazi army of Germany had attacked Russia (then Soviet Union) fiercely and wreaked havoc. However, despite suffering early losses, the Soviet Army launched an offensive against Germany in January 1945. Then, on May 9, the Commander-in-Chief signed the act of unconditional surrender of Germany. With this, the war came to an end.
PM Modi visited Russia in July 2024
PM Modi had visited Russia in July last year. This was PM Modi’s first visit to Russia in nearly five years. Earlier, PM Modi had visited the Russian city of Vladivostok to attend an economic summit in 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India. Putin has accepted the invitation but the date of Putin’s visit to India has not been disclosed so far.
