
BGMI game maker accused of selling data linked to PUBG
Krafton India, the company that makes BGMI games, can increase the difficulties. The company has been accused of selling user data. An FIR has been registered against Krafton India. The matter will come up for hearing on April 15.
The gameplay of BGMI and PUBG is the same. After PUBG Mobile was banned in India, the South Korean company Krafton India launched the game under the new name ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India’.
Accused of Selling User Data
According to a report by Talesport, Krafton India has been accused of selling the data of users playing games on instant messaging app Telegram. A Mumbai-based resident has filed a case against the company that makes the game. In his FIR, the user says that the data of users on Telegram has been sold for Rs 2000. The case against Krafton India will be heard on April 15.
According to reports, a case was registered against the company at Mumbai’s Akluj police station on September 5, 2024, last year. Four people have been made accused in the lawsuit filed against the company, including PUBG (Krafton) India, Jitesh Bansal, Hyunil Sohan and Vuyol Shalom.
Hearing on the FIR Scheduled for Next Week
In his FIR, the complainant has claimed that confidential data of users has been leaked by the company and it has also been shared with external parties. This data has been sold at the rate of Rs 2,000 per user on Telegram app. Cases have been registered against the accused under various sections.
Risk of Getting Banned
After PUBG Mobile was banned in India, Krafton launched a new game called Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). Like PUBG, this battle royale game is also very popular among users. PUBG was also banned in the year 2020 keeping in mind the data security of Indian users. PUBG Mobile has been banned in India under Section 69A of the IT Act. If this allegation against BGMI is proved, then this game of Krafton India can also be banned.
