The powerful earthquake that struck Thailand has caused significant devastation in the capital, Bangkok. The neighboring country Myanmar was also severely affected by this earthquake. In just a few seconds, large buildings were turned to rubble, roads collapsed… destruction was everywhere.
A high number of casualties is feared from the earthquake. The devastating quake has claimed at least 144 lives in Myanmar.The epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar and it was 10 kilometers deep. The magnitude was 7.7. Due to the shallow depth and high magnitude, tremors were felt all the way from Bangladesh to India. Meghalaya also felt the tremors of the earthquake.
Confirmation of the death of 144 people in Myanmar
This powerful earthquake caused widespread devastation in Myanmar and Bangkok. The head of Myanmar’s military government stated in a televised speech on Friday (March 28) that at least 144 people were killed and 730 others injured in the earthquake. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said, “The number of dead and injured is expected to rise.”
Many buildings were reportedly destroyed in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar.

Heavy devastation also occurred in Bangkok
A significant earthquake has caused severe destruction in both Myanmar and Thailand. Eight people died due to the collapse of an under-construction skyscraper in Bangkok, while dozens of workers were rescued. It is reported that around 117 people are still trapped. Pictures and videos surfaced on social media show terrifying scenes from various locations. In a different area of Thailand, a person has died.

Aftershocks were felt in several other countries
The earthquake was so strong that tremors were felt in neighboring countries besides Bangkok and Myanmar. Bangladesh also experienced a strong earthquake, which measured 7.3 in magnitude. Not only that, but the earthquake also affected India, where tremors of 4 in magnitude were felt in Meghalaya. Additionally, tremors were felt in some areas of China as well.
