Meerut Murder Case: Muskan Requests Government Lawyer as Parents Refuse to Fight Case

Muskan Rastogi requests a government lawyer as she struggles with drug withdrawal in jail.

After the shocking murder case, accused Sahil Shukla and Muskan Rastogi are now spending their days in jail. It has been reported that they are struggling with drug withdrawal and are refusing to eat. The jail administration has taken measures such as providing medication and counseling to help them overcome their addiction. Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma stated that both have been placed in separate barracks.

He further mentioned that Muskan’s family is unwilling to fight the case on her behalf, leading to a request for a government-appointed lawyer being sent to the court.

He added that three days ago, Muskan and Sahil were brought to the jail. Upon arrival, they requested to be placed in nearby barracks. However, they were informed that, as per jail regulations, there is no contact between male and female barracks. Consequently, both were kept separately. Upon entry, all inmates undergo a health examination, which revealed that both are drug addicts. Since they cannot access drugs in jail, they are being given medication. Counseling is also being provided through a de-addiction center, and they are being engaged in yoga and meditation.

Sharma emphasized that efforts are being made to ensure that other inmates stay away from them and do not frequently ask about their case.

Muskan expressed her desire to meet someone, and when she was called, she stated that her family was upset with her and refused to fight her case. As a result, she requested a government lawyer, for which an official request has been sent to the court. He affirmed that every prisoner has the right to legal representation, and necessary actions are being taken to ensure this.

He also noted that Sahil has not yet made a decision regarding a government lawyer.

Raids Conducted on Medical Store

In connection with the Saurabh murder case in Meerut, authorities conducted an inquiry on Sunday at the medical store where Muskan had purchased drugs. The Usha Medical Store in Meerut was raided by the drug inspector and his team.

Drug Inspector Piyush Sharma stated that they are investigating the Muskan case. During the investigation, it was found that Muskan had purchased some medicines from Usha Medical Store. The raid was conducted to examine these purchases.

Sharma further mentioned that they are verifying whether the medicines were prescribed by a doctor or sold over the counter without a valid prescription.
