Trump suggests Ukraine hand over power plants to the U.S. for protection
U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed that Ukraine hand over its electricity and nuclear power plants to the United States. He claims that this move would provide Ukraine with “better protection” against Russian attacks. Additionally, he argues that Ukraine would benefit from American energy technology.
Ukraine has four major nuclear power plants with a total of 15 reactors, the largest being the Zaporizhzhia plant, which has been under Russian control since 2022. Due to Russian attacks, Ukraine’s electricity production capacity has dropped to one-third of its 2022 level.
Previously, Trump suggested that Ukraine should transfer its rare mineral resources to the U.S. Meanwhile, Ukrainian and American officials are set to meet on Sunday to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine. This meeting is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Friend Elon Musk and Son Trump Jr. Add to Trump’s Worries
President Trump is facing an uncomfortable situation due to his friend Elon Musk and his son Donald Trump Jr. According to two officials from the U.S. Department of Defense, a special briefing for Elon Musk is scheduled at the Pentagon on Friday. During this briefing, Musk will be informed about the U.S. military’s strategy in case of a potential war with China. The decision to provide Musk with classified operational plans (O-Plan) has sparked controversy and opposition.
Meanwhile, protests have erupted against Trump Jr.‘s visit to Serbia. He recently visited the Trump International Hotel project site in Belgrade before meeting Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. The visit has angered the Serbian public, with the opposition claiming that Trump Jr. is trying to secure President Vučić’s support for his business project.
