A new wave of technology has hit the automobile industry. This trend is no longer limited to just design or engines. The auto industry is now transforming into “Tech on Wheels,” where every new update works like a software upgrade. Customers are also prioritizing technology while purchasing cars.

According to the Deloitte 2024 Global Automotive Report, 50% of Indian customers are ready to adopt high-tech vehicles like EVs over traditional ones. However, understanding this new technological revolution is essential. Let’s explore these advancements.

Four Advanced Technologies That Will Soon Be Seen in Mid-Range Cars

1. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) | Best for Safety

Today, cars like the Mahindra XUV700 come with Level-2 ADAS, while luxury brands like Mercedes and Volvo offer even more advanced versions. This technology helps maintain a safe distance on highways and includes features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. These features can significantly reduce accidents on Indian roads.

2. Air Suspension Technology | Solution for Bad Roads

This technology, currently found in luxury cars like the Range Rover Autobiography and Audi Q7, minimizes shocks on rough roads and potholes. Air suspension systems can adjust the vehicle’s height based on road conditions, ensuring a smoother ride.

3. Rear-Wheel Steering | Helpful for Parking

Luxury cars offer rear-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn slightly, making it easier to navigate tight corners and park in compact spaces. This feature is expected to be introduced in mid-range cars soon.

4. Head-Up Display (HUD) | Navigation Directly on the Windshield

Cars like the BMW 7 Series come with this technology, where navigation directions appear directly on the windshield. Currently, it works only with BMW’s in-built maps, but it is expected to be introduced in standard vehicles soon.

Companies like Mahindra and Tata are working on bringing ADAS and connected car technology to customers. The government is also promoting EVs and technological advancements. Additionally, Chinese companies like BYD are offering high-tech features at affordable prices, pushing Indian manufacturers to adopt advanced technology sooner.
