
Bharat Biotech's first Cell and Gene Therapy center in Telangana aims to provide affordable cancer and genetic disease treatments.
Hyderabad: The indigenous therapy for cancer and severe genetic diseases will make treatment possible at a lower cost. Indian vaccine manufacturer Bharat Biotech has launched the first Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) center in Telangana. The company has invested $75 million for this initiative.
On Thursday, Bharat Biotech stated that therapy-based medicines are expected to enter the Indian market within the next three years.
The company is focusing on the complex field of cell and gene therapy, as per market research firm Precedence Research, which estimates that the global cell and gene therapy market will grow more than fivefold, from $21.28 billion in 2024 to $117.46 billion by 2034.
According to Chief Development Officer Raches Ella, the center, with potential additional investments, will become operational within the next three months. Ella also mentioned that the company is currently working on two cell therapies and three gene therapies.
