- Saba Pataudi Remembers Shashi Kapoor, Shares Rare Photos with Sharmila Tagore
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan’s sister, Saba Pataudi, remembered Shashi Kapoor on his birth anniversary. Saba shared old pictures of the late actor with her mother, Sharmila Tagore, on her Instagram. Along with the pictures, she also posted a heartfelt note.
She wrote:
“Shashi Uncle! Among all of Mom’s co-stars, he was my favorite. She knew him the most. A gentleman, a star, a kind soul, and a wonderful human being. I deeply miss your sense of humor, just like Abba’s. You both must have certainly shared that trait. A legend!”
Shashi Kapoor was the youngest son of the patriarch of the Kapoor family in Hindi cinema, the late Prithviraj Kapoor. He began his career as a child artist in 1948 in his brother Raj Kapoor’s directorial debut film Aag and made his debut as an adult in 1961 with Yash Chopra’s political drama Dharmputra.
Shashi Kapoor established himself in 1965 with two blockbusters, Waqt and Jab Jab Phool Khile. After that, he faced a period of limited success. However, in 1974, he made a remarkable comeback and became one of the top five to six leading stars of that era. From the early 1970s to the 1990s, he acted in several blockbuster Hindi films.
