
Bill Gates and Shivraj Singh Chouhan discuss agricultural collaboration in India.
Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, met Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Monday. They discussed various issues, including agriculture and rural development.
After the meeting, Chouhan stated that the Gates Foundation is already working with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the Indian government. He added that they discussed potential areas for further cooperation.

Chouhan emphasized to Gates that India is focused on developing climate-resistant and bio-fortified crop varieties to ensure future food security. He highlighted that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed over 2,900 crop varieties, of which 85% are climate-resistant and 179 are bio-fortified.
Gates acknowledged India’s agricultural research excellence, stating that it could benefit other countries worldwide.
