US President Donald Trump’s proposed visit to Shimla in April is under security review, with officials inspecting key locations like Wildflower Hall and Kalyani Helipad.
US President Donald Trump may visit Himachal Pradesh’s capital, Shimla, in April. If confirmed, he will be the first US president to visit the state. For his proposed visit, American officials have begun security assessments.
A team of 43 American security officials arrived on Sunday afternoon around 12 PM. The security team, including officials from the US Embassy in Delhi and security personnel from Chandigarh, first inspected the Oberoi Cecil Hotel. After this, they reviewed security arrangements and assessed all necessary precautions.
The American officials also inspected the Wildflower Hall for security measures. If President Trump’s visit is finalized and he stays in Shimla, he is expected to land at Kalyani Helipad. For his visit to the Ridge, he will use the same vehicle that is typically used for the Indian President.
Following confirmation of the visit, another security team from the US will arrive. The state government and local administration, along with police officials, will coordinate preparations for the visit.
